Altar Guild

The Altar Guild, like other ministries founded by women for the benefit of the entire Episcopal Church, is represented on the board of the Diocesan ECW. Episcopal Church Women fund all Altar Guild-related activity on behalf of the diocese. Vivian Edwards is the Altar Guild Coordinator for the Diocese of North Carolina.

In addition to consulting with the bishop concerning aspects of altar work throughout the diocese, serving as consultant on the arrangements for altar work at diocesan functions of the ECW, and planning diocese-wide Altar Guild Festivals, the Altar Guild Coordinator arranges for and oversees an Altar Guild for the chapel at Diocesan House in Raleigh. This guild is primarily responsible for the altar at Noonday Prayer services held on Wednesdays throughout the year.

Many thanks to those parishes who answered the call to assist with altar work at Diocesan House in 2007. They are:

  • Christ Church, Raleigh
