"Many the Gifts, Many the Works"
One hundred years ago our Woman's Auxiliary to the Board of Missions celebrated its Silver Jubilee at Calvary Church in Tarboro. The 125th Annual Meeting of the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of North Carolina returned to Calvary Church, in the Rocky Mount Convocation, to mark another milestone for the organized ministry of women in our diocese.
Year by year in the 19th century, parochial reports in the Diocesan Journal provide telling evidence that the "ladies of the Church" worked to build, decorate, and repair church buildings all across what is now the Rocky Mount Convocation. But they also focused outward, contributing, among other places, to the work of the Church in Japan and China.
Now in the 21st century, we continue to build on this example. While at the Annual Meeting on November 9th and 10th we not only took a new look at the spiritual gifts bestowed upon each of us, we examined how to use those gifts at home and abroad to best affect no matter our age or circumstance.
This special event featured the Rev. Jane Sigloh, a noted preacher and teacher, and the author of "Like Trees Walking."
