The Diocesan ECW has named Lynn Ramsay Hoke archivist and historian for the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of North Carolina.
Lynn is currently a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Raleigh. Before moving from New York City to Raleigh in 2004, she was a longtime Episcopal clergy spouse actively involved in parishes in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, New Jersey and New York. While serving as Archivist at Grace Church in Manhattan, she organized and coordinated the Church Archivists Group, which brought together professional and volunteer archivists from twenty Manhattan churches for networking, workshops, and site visits. She has researched and written several parish history articles and booklets. (Her full resume may be viewed here.)
She started working part-time on behalf of Episcopal Church Women in January of 2007. Her first assignment: Review, catalogue and preserve in archival quality storage all available documents related to the history of the ministries of the women of this diocese. This collection, which dates to 1882, contains annual reports, yearbooks, handbooks, correspondence, meeting minutes, financial records, photographs, promotional resources, conference materials, scholarship and grant applications, historical sketches, newsletters, pamphlets, books, memorabilia, audio and video recordings.
Two primary goals of the ECW archives and history program are to tell the story of all the women of the diocese and to help parishes capture the history of their ECW branches. You'll be hearing more from Lynn about how these things can be accomplished before more time is lost.
The ECW archives are located at Diocesan House, 200 W. Morgan St., Raleigh. The collection is open by appointment only. For an appointment or to arrange a donation to the archives, contact Lynn Hoke at (919) 834-7474 (Diocesan House) or .
