2013 UTO Grants Timeline

  • November 1, 2012: Grant policy and criteria available here
  • January 9, 2013: UTO grant application form available here
  • February 9, 2013: Submission deadline for first round of applications to go before the diocesan ECW review committee. NOTE: All submissions should be submitted directly to ECW President Lisa Towle by e-mail (president^ecw-nc#org) or snail mail, 110 Dutchess Drive, Cary, NC 27513
  • February 22, 2013: Submission deadline for edited versions of the applications selected for final submission
  • February 25, 2013: Deadline for the diocesan ECW to submit grant applications from within the Diocese of NC to the national UTO office
  • Late Spring/Early Summer 2013: National UTO announces grant recipients

If you are considering submitting a grant application, please note:

Grants to be considered in 2013 must address the following Marks of Mission:

  • To respond to human need by loving service
  • To seek to transform unjust structures of society

Responses to questions, even in draft form for the review committee, should run no longer than 250 words. Text explaining responses of “Other” can be no longer than 150 words.

UTO will not fund:

  • Project site two consecutive years
  • Capital fund campaigns or debt reductions
  • Deferred maintenance
  • Operational budgets (meaning the proposed budget and program is the same as the year before)
  • Debts obligated or incurred before the date of the grant award
  • Purchase of consumable items (e.g., food, medicine, paper goods, toiletries, fuel, etc.)
  • Scholarships, tuition, camp camp fees, and attendance incentives
  • Emergency response
