Annual Meeting 2021

Convocation co-chairs Elnora Gore and Gertrude Murchison serve on the Executive Board representing nine cities. Board meetings are held via Zoom. ECW Chapters, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, have not carried out many of their planned outreach ministries.

Women of the Winston-Salem Convocation gathered via Zoom on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 5:00 pm for the Annual Spring Meeting. Persons representing: Galloway, Elkin; Good Shepherd, Cooleemee; St. Paul’s, Winston-Salem; St. Timothy’s, Winston-Salem; St. Stephen’s, Winston-Salem and Trinity, Mount Airy attended.

Getting acquainted or re-acquainted was a joy! The focus of the meeting was to review and share information on the diocesan and local level Missions, Services and Funds.

Members were encouraged to support both the diocesan and local Episcopal Women by participation and pledges.

Information on the upcoming Annual Meeting/Harris Evans Conference (November 5, 2021) was shared.

Representatives from each church were given the opportunity to share “the good news” of their branch. Women continue to donate and to give of themselves and in their churches and the community.

The website addresses of National and Diocesan ECW were shared and all were encouraged to visit them to stay abreast of goings on.

They were also encouraged to take a pre-planning survey on the 2021 ECW Annual Meeting.

We were happy to gather, though not in person, and pledged to keep in touch and to support each other.

On-Going Goals:

Continue to support the Diocesan ECW.

Contact and seek to involve more women into ECW activities and ministries.

The Episcopal Church Women of Trinity Church are involved in many different ministries. One is Lyn’s Medical Loan Closet. Named for their former priest, Lyn Stabler-Tippett, who fought a long, hard battle with cancer, the Loan Closet loans durable medical equipment to residents of Surry County and surrounding areas. There is no cost to the client.

This ministry was initiated with a loan of equipment from the medical loan closet at St. James Episcopal Church in Hickory, NC. Trinity operates the loan closet on Tuesdays and volunteers from two other churches, St. Andrew Lutheran and Grace Moravian Church, have opened it on Thursdays.
